Project Background

The University of Colorado Denver, Center for Integrated Disaster Health Preparedness has contracted with All Clear Emergency Management Group, LLC, to provide consulting services based on their knowledge and experience working with hospitals in Colorado through the Colorado Hospital Emergency Coordination System (CHECS).

All Clear EMG was contracted in 2009 to design and implement a communication and coordination system for all acute care, behavioral health, rehabilitation, and long-term care hospitals in each of the State’s nine All-Hazard Regions. The multi-phase project, which became known as CHECS, included best practice research of similar systems across the nation, surveys to each hospital in the state, and a series of webinars, first to introduce the project and secondly to open regional dialogue between hospitals within a region. The final project phase, completed in May 2010, was a series of in-person planning workshops to create each region’s CHECS plan.
